ONGLYZA01/12/2010 |
Please provide brief info about new medication ONGLYZA. Is it sumilar to any other? How does it work and what advantages (disadvantages) it has.Thanks.
The manufacturer provides information approved by the US Food and Drug Administration at the following web site: http://packageinserts.bms.com/ppi/ppi_onglyza.pdf. The generic (chemical) name is saxagliptin. It is similar to another drug sitagliptin (brand name Januvia). Both act by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas. Advantages and disadvantages should be considered in the context of all other alternatives with a health care professional familiar with your overall situation.
