Braces

Veneers instead of braces

09/09/2008 03:07PM

Question:

Hi... I`m 34 and have been told I need braces. I sucked my thumb until I was 16 and so I have a major overbite or buckteeth I guess you would call it. My question is, instead of getting braces, can I have veneers put in instead?

Thanks, wanting a beautiful smile

Answer:

The short answer is no. The reason is veneers are good for problems with the shape and color of teeth. Braces are good for crooked teeth or "buck teeth". Your problem needs braces to fix.
