Question:

My granddaughter is 14. She has very very heavy periods. She has been having highs and lows in her Blood Pressure. But worse her pulse rate is very very very high. She is having headaches which seem to be centered in the back of her head. Can hormone inbalances be the cause of this. Or could it be a Thyroid problem which runs in our family.

Answer:

It could be related to the thyroid, but if her bleeding is as heavy as you state, she would have significant anemia which can cause all of these symptoms. She should be seen by a physician to determine her blood count and cause of the heavy bleeding. Female hormone imbalances can cause heavy bleeding which would lead to this too.
