Both femoral nerve block and sciatic block are suggested as options for meniscus tear, but it`s not clear why both are suggested. Can you explain please?
This is because the femoral nerve supplies sensation to the anterior (front) part of the knee only. A block of the sciatic nerve is needed in addition to the femoral nerve block in order to completely anesthetize the knee.
