Can extraction & graft cause breast abscess?06/09/2008 12:46AM |
I had a tooth extracted and a bone graft. I took Clindomycin afterwards for 5 days. The endodontist said that the tooth was infected. About a week after the procedure I became ill and was eventually diagnosed with an abscess in my breast which needed to be surgically drained. Because I am 52, and breast abscesses are extremely rare in non-lactating women, I believe there is a link here. Is it possible that the tooth extraction released bacteria that caused the breast abscess?
It is highly unlikely a tooth infection would cause breast abcess. In addition, the cultures of the abcess would indicate the possible source.
