New Ask an Expert Area - Obesity/Weight Management

Another new Ask an Expert area is Obesity/Weight Management. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in our country and is spreading rapidly throughout the industrialized world. Approximately 2/3 of the adult population in the United States is overweight, and the problem in our children has tripled since 1963 and shows no sign of stopping. New Expert in Lung and Respiratory Diseases

NetWellness would like to welcome Georgia Narsavage, PhD, RN, CS, ANP-BC as an expert the Lung and Respiratory Diseases area of NetWellness. Dr. Narsavage is an associate professor at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University as well as Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Director, MSN and ND Programs, within the School of Nursing. She is the coordinator for the Cardio-pulmonary section of the Sarah Cole Hirsh Institute for Best Nursing Practices Based on Evidence (SCHI), utilizing her clinical expertise and research interests in care for patients and families living with chronic respiratory disease. She is interested in answering questions within the lung diseases topic area on: home care for patients with chronic lung diseases, coping with chronic lung diseases at home, and maximizing functioning for patients with chronic lung diseases. She joins Stephen Liggett, MD, Francis McCormack, MD, Mitchell Rashkin, MD, Patricia Joseph, MS, MD, Dennis McGraw, MD, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Updated Introduction

Lisa Cicciarello Andrews, MEd, RD, LD, University of Cincinnati College of Allied Health Sciences has reviewed and updated the introduction to our Diet and Nutrition area. NetWellness always tries to provide you with the most current and up to date health information possible.

Mood Disorders Study

Mary Fristad, PhD, ABPP, Professor of Psychiatry & Psychology, Director of Research & Psychological Services in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Department of Psychiatry at The Ohio State University has begun recruiting participants for a study in this area. The study is titled: The Multifamily Psychoeducation Group (MFPG) Study. This study focuses on families of children with depression and manic-depression (bipolar) disorders.
